The Neighborhood

The Glenmary at Evergreen is located in midtown Memphis in the Evergreen Historic District, which is surrounded by unique houses and architecture dating back to the 1920’s. Many of the area homes are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Area attractions include Rhodes College, a foremost liberal arts school which draws students and faculty not only from throughout the country but from other countries as well. Its gothic architecture is unmatched. Rhodes College offers concerts, lectures, athletic events and many other opportunities for residents of The Glenmary to take advantage of.

Another area attraction is The Vollintine-Evergreen Greenline, which is a premier neighborhood walking trail. The trail is a place to walk, jog, bike and meet neighbors. It has thousands of trees and two creeks with unique bridges and unusual landscapes.

The Memphis Zoo is only a couple of blocks from The Glenmary, and in 2008 the zoo was ranked “#1 Zoo in the US” by Tripadvisor.com. The Memphis Zoo is home to more than 3,500 animals representing over 500 different species. Since the early 1990’s the Memphis Zoo has invested over $80 million for renovation and expansion, making it one of the finest zoological parks in the nation.
